PFC US MARINE CORPS
WORLD WAR II

The Press-Enterprise - 28 August 2007

Deceased Name: Baquet Oresa F06: D.

ORESA D. BAQUET passed away on August 22 after a long illness. She was the devoted wife of Ed Baquet to whom she was married for 62 years. Oresa became an avid movie fan while ushering at two local theaters in Roseburg OR, where she worked until her graduation from Roseburg High in 1941. When WWII broke out, she enlisted in the US Marine Corps and was thrilled to be included as an extra in a Fred McMurray film during that time. She left the Marine Corps to marry her high school sweetheart, Ed Baquet, and spent the remainder of her life as an "officer's wife," living at many Air Force bases, including three years in Japan, where she learned the arts of ikebana and ceramics. As a dedicated doll collector, she opened the Pixie Doll Hospital in Mobile, AL, while at Brookley AFB. A talented artist, Oresa created many oil paintings for her family and friends and owned an art gallery in Oxnard, CA, before moving to Riverside in 1970. She was the last surviving member from a family of nine children. Oresa spent her final years enjoying her home and family and is survived by her husband, Edwin, her three children (Carole, Kelly and Kevin), five grandchildren (April, Brian, Julie, Nathan and Tomica) and four great grandchildren. Services will be private per her wishes.
