Hazel LaRue (Prater) Granger was born on November 9, 1935 in Elsworth, Oklahoma to L.L. and Opal (Hainsworth) Prater. Hazel passed away on April 6, 2021 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 85.
Hazel graduated from Durant High School class of 1955 and later married James Granger on July 16, 1955 in Durant. She was a loving and dedicated wife and mother to her husband and children. Hazel deeply loved all her family and friends. She was voted mother of the year by her children and she was a loyal and dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church. In her free time, she enjoyed baking, camping and spending time with family and friends.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents L.L. and Opal Prater; son James Gary Granger and brother Joe Prater.
Loved ones left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband of 65 years James Granger of the home; children Vickie Ward and husband Keith of Shawnee, OK, Pam Lindsey and husband Richard of Mead, OK, James Granger Jr. and wife Tina of Springtown, TX and Bart Granger and wife Annette of Durant, OK; grandchildren Kelly Ward, Chris Ward, Stefanie Morgan and husband Chris, Todd Lindsey, Corey Granger, Lauren Martin and husband Mitch, Ashley Granger and Abbigail Mitchell and husband Coy; a host of great grandchildren and sister Thelma Woolf.
Funeral services will be held Saturday April 10, 2021 at Brown's Funeral Service Chapel. Pastor Darel Bunch and Pastor Mike Moody will officiate. Abbigail Mitchell will provide special music. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery with Coy Mitchell, Corey Granger, Tyler Francis, Todd Lindsey, Keith Ward and Chris Ward serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be David Blackburn, Arthur Granger, Fred Marlow and Greg Prater.
Arrangements are under the direction of Brown's Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
