Edna Martin Grindstaff, (Mama G), 75, of Rocky Mount, passed away Friday February 9, 2007. She was born November 2, 1931 to the late Willie Thomas and Lillian Marlowe Martin. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, M. Zade Grindstaff; and one sister, Barbara Aaron.

She is survived by her children, Mike and Marianne Grindstaff of Petersburg, Va., Todd and Cheryl Grindstaff of Ringgold, Va.; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Davy Mitchell of Snow Creek, Va.; seven grandchildren Chas Mitchell, Whitney and Casey Eanes, Cole Grindstaff, Taylor Jones, Huntley Grindstaff, and Heather Harvey; one great-grandchild, Kyla Harvey; sisters and brother-in-law, Jean and Bill Gusler, and Jane Martin; brother-in-law, Lester Aaron and wife Nancy.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Snow Creek Christian Church, 4970 Snow Creek Rd., Martinsville, Va., 24112 or to Snow Creek Rescue Squad, c/o Ruby Oakes 8235 Snow Creek Rd., Penhook, Va., 24137.

Funeral services will be conducted from Snow Creek Christian Church 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Nancy Copin and the Rev. Berlin Hanks officiating. Interment will follow in the Grindstaff Family Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Snow Creek Christian Church.
