Jim married Carol Ann Parker on Feb. 6, 1960 in Midland, MI at the Homer United Methodist church. They had three children: Catherine Jo b. 1960, Colleen Marie b. 1962, and James Jr. b. 1964. Jim died from complications due to diabetes after a year of hospitalization.

Jim was a talented musician and played many musical instruments including the guitar and piano. He had a cover band in the late 1950s through early 1960s called "The Blazers." The Blazers recorded a single, "You are my Sunshine," a popular song originally recorded by Jimmie Davis and Charles Mitchell in 1939.

Jim enjoyed fishing and star gazing. He was a wonderful cook, especially barbeque. Holiday celebrations were important, especially the gifts and surprises during Christmas. He volunteered his time for many charity events and supported Easter Seals and the March of Dimes.

Jim worked as an insulator and was a member of Local 47 Lansing/Kalamazoo. After retiring, Jim enjoyed gardening and travel. The top photo was taken on a Costa Cruise cir. 1995.
