Shirley Berg, age 82, of Cleveland, departed this life on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at her home. Born in Wade, Oklahoma on July 25, 1938 to the late Earl Augustus and Ellen Augustine Payne Thornton, she lived a majority of her life in Arkansas before moving to Bradley County 20 years ago. She was a contributor to the Hot Springs County Historical Society and a member of Liberty Gospel tabernacle. She was very active in genealogy research and loved spending time with her family, church family and always put others needs above her own.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Berg; sister Evalyn Burroughs; brothers and sisters-in-law, Boyce Thornton, Fonzie Thornton and Watson and Carolyn Thornton; and son-in-law, Terry Charles
Survivors include daughters, Chris Hudson of Landers, California and Carla Charles of Phelan, California; brother, Wink and Ginger Thornton of Yucca Valley, California; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; and several beloved nieces, nephews, and other extended family and a loving church family.
A Celebration of Life and Home going for Shirley Ann Thornton Berg will be held at 2p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Liberty Gospel Tabernacle with Pastor Hershel Earwood officiating. Interment will follow in the Liberty Gospel Tabernacle Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon -2 p.m. at the church prior to the service on Saturday.
