"The Sabbath Recorder", Vol 30, No 50, p 3, Dec. 10, 1874.

In Farina, Ill., Nov. 25th, 1874, of cancer in the stomach, Mrs. Roxey A. Maxson, wife of Thomas C. Maxson, aged 50 years and 14 days. Sister Maxson gave her heart to Christ in her fourteenth year, was baptized by Eld. Alexander Campbell, and joined the Seventh-day Baptist Church of Cuyler Hill, N. Y. She and her family moved from Dakota, Wis., to Farina. She identified herself with the church here, of which she remained a worthy member. She suffered intensely from her disease but was most patient, very calm, and submissive to the divine will. She prayed often for her family, for her neighbors, and the church, and talked freely about going home. An afflicted husband and bereaved children are bereft of a faithful, Godly wife and mother. Rarely is it the privilege of anyone to witness such trust in God and his dear Son as she exhibited in life and in death, evincing the ripeness of her spirit for the home of the blessed.
