The Idaho Post, Moscow, Idaho, October 30, 1913: "Mr. Lee M. Humphreys was born in Colorado March 27th, 1863, and died in this city October 28th, aged 50 years, seven months and one day.

"When a lad seven years of age he moved with his folks to California, and after 11 years of residence there came as a young man of 18 to Dallas, Oregon. There he was married to his now bereft companion. To them have been born three boys: Ross, Mert and Floyd, who are left to take up the labors where the father laid them down.

"Since 1907 the family has lived on the farm five miles northeast of this place. Mr. Humphreys has always been a hard working industrious man and enjoyed a very good degree of health and strength until about two years ago when his health began steadily to decline until the end came at 6:00 o'clock on Tuesday morning.

"Now that he is gone the thing that is of greatest interest is the religious side of his life.

"In the tabernacle under the direction of Evangelist Lowrey, he made his first start in the religious life. A little later he was baptized at the M.E. altar, united with the church on probation February 11th, 1912, and on April 7th, following, was received into full membership taking upon him the full vows of the church to which he remained faithful until called to the church triumphant above. --Robert Warner."

The Star-Mirror, Moscow, Idaho, October 30, 1913: "Death claimed another pioneer of the northwest this morning at the Inland Empire hospital in Moscow when Leon Humphries [sic], who has been in declining health for the past year, passed away after an illness of six weeks. His family was at his bedside when the end came.

"Mr. Humphries was well known in Moscow having been engaged in farming near this city since 1907, coming here from The Dalles, Or., where he had lived a number of years.

"The deceased was a native of Colorado and was 50 years of age. He resided in California during his early life, later going to Oregon. Subsequently he came to this section but only recently had sold his farm property and was preparing to remove to Harney county, Or., where he had purchased extensive farm interests. His illness prevented, and after being taken to the hospital he failed to rally. He is survived by a widow and three sons. The funeral will occur Thursday morning at 10 o'clock from the Methodist church, Rev. Robert Warner officiating, and interment will be made in the Moscow cemetery."
