Mrs. L.R. Keech Dies; Mother of Judge Here
Mrs. Leigh Richmond Keech, 90, mother of Judge Richmond B. Keech of District Court, died early today.
Death came at the home of her son, 2746 Woodley place N.W., with whom she had lived for many years. She died after a brief illness of pneumonia.
The former Annie Louise Contee, she was born in Aquasco in Prince Georges Cournty. She cam to Washington some 65 years ago and was married to the late Leigh Richmond Keech, who died at the age of 77 in 1945. From 1903 until he retired in 1936 he was on the Metropolitan Police force and received a number of commendations for outstanding service.
Mrs. Keech was the daughter of a Civil War veteran, Charles Snowden Contee, Her mother was the former Elizabeth Bowling.
In Washington, Mrs. Keech was prominent for a number of years in the work of All Souls Memorial Episcopal Church at Woodley place and Cathedral avenue N.W. She had four children, all boys, Judge Keech is the only survivor.
Friends may call at the S.H. Hines funeral home, 2901 Fourteenth street N.W. Services will be held there at 11 a.m. Thursday, with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
