Port Townsend resident Mary Eleanor Ostgaard died in Bremerton of systemic mastocytosis. She was 72.
She was born in Thermopolis, Wyo., to Charles Freeborn and Eunice Eleanor (Ready) Warren.
In 1947, she moved to Long Beach, Calif., where she earned her associate of arts degree from Long Beach City College.
On April 20, 1947, she married Gerald Dean Ostgaard in Bellflower, Calif.
Mrs. Ostgaard was employed for 15 years in the security department of Keyport Naval Base before retiring in 1999.
She was a member of San Juan Baptist Church of Port Townsend. In addition, her pastimes included tracing family genealogy, painting and gardening.
Mrs. Ostgaard"s survivors include son Charles Gerald Ostgaard of Cerritos, Calif.; daughters Mary Kathleen "Kathy" Newman and Karen Rose Loving, both of Port Townsend; brother Tom Warren of Salem, Ore.; sisters Juanita Warren of Alta Loma, Calif., and Dorothy Knisley of Aliso Viejo, Calif.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Her husband died April 4, 2002. She was also preceded in death by sister Billie June.
Services: Thursday, Oct. 24, memorial was held in San Juan Baptist Church with Pastor Dan McMillan officiating. Interment was in Laurel Grove Cemetery with Kosec Funeral Home, Port Townsend, in charge of arrangements.
