As a teenager Edith earnestly sought to know God. She attended a variety of churches without personal peace with God. She wrote to her family: "One night when I was 19, I was telling the Lord all the things I didn't do and finally I asked the Lord, 'What do you want me to do?' His answer to me was, 'Nothing, I've done it all.' It was absolutely loud and clear to me, that my part was that of acceptance and trusting from that time on in His leadership."
Edith accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 19 at Edgemont Bible Church in East St. Louis, IL where she met her soon to be husband, Robert E. Jones. He had been praying, "If that girl is saved tonight, I'm going to marry her." They were married in 1942 and raised two children in the Wheaton area.
Years of active fellowship at Glen Ellyn Bible Church, Wheaton Bible Church and Pleasant Hill Community Church nourished her faith. She had a personal passion and supported evangelical missions and missionaries in various countries.
Prior to joining the Windsor Park Manor community in Carol Stream, IL in 1986, Edith was employed at the telephone company and on the management teams of the Scripture Press and Tyndale bookstores in Wheaton.
She is survived by her children, Keith (Janet) Jones of Fisherville, VA and Jacqueline (Michael) Carbone of Fort Myers Beach, FL, her grandchildren, Kevin (Heidi) Jones, Vincent (Tonia) Carbone and David Carbone, her great-grandchildren, Eden Jones, Micah Jones and Gracelyn Carbone.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband Robert, five brothers – Amos, Garland, Harold, Robert and William Husky, and by her grandson Richard Carbone.
