Paul Richard Kane, Sr., 73 of Middletown passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 22, 2021 surrounded by his family.

Paul was born in Wilmington, the son of the late Agnes M. (Lenhoff) and James F. Kane, Sr. He was a 1965 graduate of Salesianum School and received his B.S. degree from Wilmington University. Paul served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He graduated in the 35th Academy Class of the Delaware State Police and retired after 22 years as a Captain. He then worked for over ten years in the Delaware Attorney General's Office. He was a Board Member of the Delaware State Police Museum and served on the Executive Board of Directors as the Treasurer, member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Association of Retired Delaware State Police.

In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his brothers, Little Jimmy, Bill, Bob, Jack, James, Jr. and Joe and his sisters,Dolores 'Sissy' Bader, Kathleen Krupa and Agnes 'Aggie' Workman

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Jo Ann Howell Kane, her daughter Diann Caldwell of Clayton, her grandchildren Allie and Brianne Jones and Nicole Yildiz; his daughter and son-in-law, Erin and Joseph Carroll of Wilmington and their son Finnigan Kane Carroll; his son, Paul R. Kane, Jr. of Middletown and his children Army SPC Dylan A. Kane and Brooke A. Kane; his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Linda Kane of West Grove, PA; his aunt, Alice Bridgewater; his brother-in-law, Rev. David S. Howell and his wife, Linda of Sacramento, CA; his sister-in-law, Colleen J. Lefebvre of Lewes and numerous loving relatives.

Friends may call at the MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington on Friday morning from 9 to 10:30 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin. Entombment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.
