Johanne Kirstine Jensen, youngest child of Kristine and Jens Peder Jensen, was born January 28, 1856 in Borglum, Denmark. She died in Omaha July 29, 1955 at the home of her daughter at the age of 99 years, five months and one day.
When she was one year old she went to live with her oldest sister after the death of her mother.
In 1882 she married to Lauris Andersen in Godthaab, Denmark.
In the summer of 1912, Mrs Andersen and her two youngest daughters, Margaret and Mette, came to the United States to the Edward Andersen home near Harlan. She made her home there on the farm for four years and then she moved to Harlan where she resided on South Sixth street for seven years.
In 1923 she went to the home of her daughter, Mrs Matte (Jake) Spiesberger in Omaha, where she lived until her death. At the time of her death she was a member of the Bethel Baptist church in Harlan.
Surviving are her six children; James of Pleasanton, California, Edward of Harlan, Mrs Marie Brogden of Boone, Mike of Council Bluffs, Margaret of Denver, Colorado and Mrs Jake Spiesberger of Omaha. Also 23 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held August 1, from the Pauley funeral home in Harlan with the Rev. A.H. Nelson officiating.
Pallbearers were John B. Andersen, Holger Andersen, Stephen Andersen, John R. Paulsen, Soren Clausen and George Christensen. The first five named were born in Godthaab, Denmark.
Burial at Cuppy's Grove cemetery.
