Frank J. Beckman, 77, of 540 East Nineteenth street early day contractor, who built many of the first buildings in Long Beach and among them the first house in the 500 block of Atlantic Avenue, died Thursday night at his home. He was a member of First Congregational Church and attended the Sunday School every Sunday until two years ago when he became ill and unable to continue. Ha was born in Oxford Junction, Iowa, and came to Long Beach in 1904. He belonged to Long Beach Lodge 327 F. & A.M , Palos Verdas Chapter No. 310, O.E.S., and the Modern Woodmen of America. Surviving him is his widow, Mrs Carrie A. Beckman; daughter Mrs. Christian Ramsier, North Hollywood; two brothers, Godfrey Beckman, Anaheim and Henry Bookmen, San Francisco; two sisters , Mrs. Rose Schoenman, San Francisco; and Mrs. George Spencer, Cherokee, Iowa. Services will be held Monday at 3 P. M in the chapel of J. J. Mottell, Inc., Rev. E. R. McCorkle, retired minister of Firs Congregational Church, will officiate. Entombment will be in Angeles Abbey Mausoleum.
