Paul LaRue Baker, Jr., age 79, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO. Paul LaRue was born on February 10, 1942 in Maud, MO, the son of Paul LeRoy and Phoebe Mae (Hill) Baker. He was united in marriage to Virginia Tabor in 1965.
Paul LaRue is survived by his wife, Virginia; two children, Troy LaRue Baker (Bena) of Odessa, MO, and Dr. Treneth Paul Baker (Dr. Amy Woodruff) of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren, Katie, Lacey, Nicholas, Molly, Isaac, Lauren, and Brette ; seven great-grandchildren, Chloe, Yaniza, Anthony, Silas, Idahlia, Michael, and Gwendolyn; and one sister, Ellen "Judy" Joyce Long (Everett) of White Water, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Paul LaRue served in the National Guard during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Community State Bank Board, Clarence Care Center Nursing Home Board, the American Legion, Shelbina Masons, and the Horseshoe Pitchers of Shelbina. Paul LaRue also served five years on the Macon Electric Cooperative Board. He attended the Church of Christ in Shelbina.
Paul LaRue enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing with his grandkids. He farmed his whole life, including livestock and row cropping.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 11 am at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Clarence, MO. Visitation will be held from 9 am to 11 am at the funeral home in Clarence on Saturday morning. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Clarence, MO following the service. Memorials can be made to Neighbors Helping Neighbors.
