Richard Paul Abendroth, 78, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, 3/17/18. Dick was born in Chicago on 6/13/39 and the family moved to Oconomowoc in 1945 where he spent his entire life living for Jesus. He was a wonderful Christian husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle and will always be remembered as a kind and loving Christian man.
Dick is survived by his wife June, daughter Traci Welch, step-daughter Jeri Sattler, step-son James Hendrickson, sister Nancy (Tim) Thiele, grandchildren Sara, Ryan, Cody, Patrick, K.C., and Paul; great grandchildren Mikaela and Liam; many nieces and nephews, cousin Dorcas (Ian) McMillan and other cousins.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Eva Abendroth and sister Susan Abendroth.
He attended church and grade school at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc and was confirmed in 1953. Dick graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1957 and attended Valparaiso University in Indiana where he obtained a degree in Accounting. Dick spent four years in the Navy and then began his accounting career as a Chief Financial Officer in health care and eventually retired as a representative for Thrivent Financial.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church's "Forward in Christ" program.
