Pedro Afonso Cristiano Leopoldo Eugênio Fernando Vicente Miguel Gabriel Rafael Gonzaga of Braganza, or simply Dom Pedro, (July 19, 1848 - January 9, 1850) was the Imperial Prince and heir apparent to the throne of the Empire of Brazil. Born in the city of Rio de Janeiro, he was the fourth and last child of Emperor Dom Pedro II of Brazil and Princess Teresa Cristina of Two Sicilies and, therefore, a member of the Brazilian branch of the Serenissima Casa de Bragança. Pedro Afonso was seen as vital to the future viability of the monarchy, which had been endangered by the death of his older brother, Afonso Pedro, which occurred a year before his birth.
