Dottie was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1932 to Marius J H Alkier and Clementine (Vanderdonck) Alkier. She married Ralph Rae Ruby on March 1, 1952. They had three children. She divorced Ralph in July of 1969. Dorothea became the sole support of the household, working as a secretary at Hunt-Wesson Foods. She bought a small house in Orange, California where she raised her children. She met Jack Baldwin (Edward J. Baldwin) in Parents Without Partners. They were married on January 19, 1974 in Orange Co., California. He had children from a previous marriage as well. The two of them eventually moved to Hemet where they lived in a retirement community. Dottie made beautiful square dance outfits and she and Jack danced, camped, and enjoyed working on antique cars. After Jack's death, she moved to Kentucky to be near one of her daughters. She died in 2020, not from COVID.
