The village of Copston Magna, near Wolvey, has sustained a severe loss by the death of Mrs. Elizabeth (Bessie) Toone, wife of Mr. F. H. Toone, of "The Hollies Farm."
Mrs. Toone became ill about three months ago, and for four weeks she was a patient at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, but left the hospital about a fortnight prior to her death, which occurred at her home on Thursday last week.
She was the second daughter of the late Mr. John Harrison, of Pailton, and for upwards of thirty years had been an active church worker at Copston, and also for many years a member of the Mother's Union. She was also on the committee of the Governors of Leicester Infirmary, for which institution she had assisted, in conjuction with other residents of Copston, in raising large sums of money. Her death will be keenly felt over a wide area. She leaves a husband and three sons (one married).
The funeral took place at Copston on Satuday, the service being conducted by the Rev. R. Peacock, vicar of Monks Kirby, assisted by the Rev. Frank Hunt, vicar of Willey. Among those present at the funeral was Viscountess Fielding, of Newnham Paddox.

Youngest son, Ft. Lieut. Donovan Toone, aged 29, was killed in 1943, whilst on war service.
