Anne Buydens Douglas, born Hannelore Marx in Hanover, Germany, grew up in boarding school since her parents divorced. She learned multiple languages including English, Italian, and French. She married Albert Buydens for a very short bit before divorcing. Anne Buydens eventually met Kirk Douglas in 1953 in Paris, France. Kirk was also divorced from his first wife Diana Douglas. Kirk already had 2 sons with his first; Michael and Joel. Kirk offered Anne a job but she denied the job. Soon enough she agreed to the job but only work on business. On May 29, 1954, Anne Buydens and Kirk Douglas were married in a chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together, they had 2 more sons; Peter and Eric. Anne Douglas became an American Citizen in 1959. She was converted to Judaism when the Douglas couple renewed their vows on their 50th wedding anniversary in 2004. In July of 2004, tragedy struck the Douglas family when Eric Douglas (son of Anne and Kirk Douglas) was found dead at the early age of 46. Buydens established the Research for Women's Cancer Charity to which by the way raised millions to help finance a research at Cedar Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. In 1983 and 2003, Anne Buydens Douglas was recognized for her achievement by getting the Jefferson Award for Public Service. Anne's husband Kirk Douglas died 2020 at 103 years of age after 65 years on marriage.
