Verda E. Blank, age 91 of Batesville, died Sunday, January 6, 2008 at The Odd Fellows Home in Greensburg, Indiana. Born December 15, 1916 in Batesville, she is the daughter of Alice (Nee: Greeman) and Edward Zierer. She married Urban Blank October 4, 1938 at St. Mary's of the Rock Church in St. Mary's Indiana.Verda taught sixth grade at St. Louis School prior to retiring. She was a member of St. Louis Church, the St. Louis Ladies Society and a long time member of the Phi Beta Psi Sorority. She enjoyed her grandchildren, working crossword puzzles, music, birds and flowers, especially pansies. She was especially proud of being a published poet.Survivors include her husband Urban; daughters Peg Salatin and Connie Meyer; son Tom Blank, all of Batesville; 11 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her twin sons Louis and Edward; sisters Lola Biehl, Ada Fisher and great granddaughter Caroline Small.Visitation is Tuesday, January 8th, from 10-11:30 a.m. at Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral services follow at Noon at St. Louis Church with Rev. Dennis Duvelius officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Louis School Library or St. Louis School Music Department.
