Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home in Nekoosa. Rev. Douglas Schalow will officiate. Burial will be in Easton Cemetery. Edwin was born November 15, 1932 in Grand Marsh, Wisconsin to George and Louise (Engnath) Colby. He married Joyce Bandt on May 17, 1952 in Adams. She died September 23, 1992. He was employed in the Finishing Room/Tool Room at Nekoosa Papers, Inc. for 40 years, retiring in 1993. In earlier years, he enjoyed softball and racing stock cars where he was recognized as a "shade tree mechanic". He was a lifelong hunter and enjoyed traveling. Following retirement, he enjoyed seasonal work on local marshes and farms. Edwin was known in the community for his umpiring and refereeing for many sporting events. He was Santa's helper for over 20 years.
He is survived by his three children, David Colby (Jean) of Plover, Judy Colby (Leah Billmeyer) of Wisconsin Rapids, and Scott Colby (Sally Du Bois) of Port Edwards; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one sister, Lou Ann Schaetzka of Oxford; and special friend Louise Jensen of Spokane, WA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, grandson Ryan Colby and ten brothers and sisters.
