Graveside Memorial services will be on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Liberty Township Cemetery, rural Meriden, Iowa. Pastor Jonathan Caldwell will officiate. The Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.
Kathleen was born on January 13, 1949 to Alva and Marjorie (McIntosh) Froehlich at LeMars, Iowa. She grew up in Cleghorn, Iowa attending and graduating from Meriden-Cleghorn Schools. She went on to further her education graduating from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa with a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology.
She married Ronald Abels on November 8, 1975 at Sioux City, Iowa. They lived in Ballwin, Missouri for 27 years. She loved her job working in marketing until her retirement due to health reasons. They relocated to Omaha, Nebraska later in life. She loved dolls, shopping and traveling.
She is preceded in death by parents, stepson Jeff Abels, and a sister Beverly Tjossem.
Left to cherish Kathleen's memory are her husband Ronald Abels of Omaha, Nebraska, son Jon Roethler of Omaha, Nebraska, two stepchildren Troy Abels of Phenix City, Alabama and Kammy Abels Oliver of Phenix City, Alabama, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, two sisters Darlene Miller of Sioux City, Iowa and Marcia Huffman of Calumet, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.
