Billy Joe "Chuck" Bennett, 79, of Vienna passed away July 7, 2005, at St. Joseph's Hospital after an extended illness.
He was born Aug. 20, 1925, in Gilmer County, W.Va., son of the late Samuel M. Bennett Jr. and Fluence M. Keister Bennett.
Chuck graduated from Tanner High School in Gilmer County. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-46 during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He had been a Vienna resident since 1957. Chuck worked at Penn Metal Co. for 14 years. He retired from Kardex Systems Inc. in 1990 after 17 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol S. Ross Bennett; a son, Stephen Bennett of Titusville, Fla.; two daughters, Patricia Colangeli of Circleville, Ohio, and Angela Bennett of Vienna; a sister, Hannah Taylor of Vienna; three grandsons; and a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be 11 am. Saturday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, with the Rev. Gene Hutton officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen North Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today.
