PORTSMOUTH — Mary Jane Sandefur, 77, of the 600 block of Normandy Street, died Tuesday, August 26, 2008 in a Norfolk hospital. A native of Williamson, WV, she was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Her husband, Melville Edwin Sandefur, Sr. preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Diana Bridgers of Portsmouth; two sons, Melville E. Sandefur, Jr. of Portsmouth and Danny Sandefur of Va. Beach; two sisters, Bertha Blackburn of KY and Sarahann Nielson of OH; two brothers, Joe Chapman of KY and Clarence Chapman of OH; two grandchildren, D.J. Bridgers and Theresa Delbridge; and two great-grandchildren, Kristen Delbridge and Lyndsey Bridgers. A funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 30, in Faith Baptist Church by the Rev. Carlton Smith. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6-9 p.m.
