Jeffrey Paul Abel

Jeff Abel, 57, passed away May 6, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. Jeff was born January 14, 1964, in Vincennes, to the late Amy (Carson) Marhenholz, and James D. Abel. On December 23, 1983, he married the love of his life, Judy (Johnson) Abel, and she survives.

Jeff worked for the Street and Sanitation Department for the City of Vincennes for seventeen years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and camping. He attended the Southside Presbyterian Church, and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. Jeff loved spending time with his family, and was known to be an awesome father.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter, Brittany; grandaughters Callie and Tayler; and grandsons James and Nathaniel. Brothers and sisters include: Skeet (Chrissy) Abel of Fishers, Mike and Sherry Sheren of Bruceville; and B. J. Helderman of Vincennes, and stepmother Birdie Abel of Vincennes. He also is survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation for Jeff Abel will be Monday, May 10, 2021, 12:00-2:00 pm, in the Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Vincennes Chapel, 313 Church Street, Vincennes, Indiana.

The funeral for Jeff Abel will be held at the Fredrick & Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Vincennes Chapel immediately following the visitation at 2:00 pm, with Chaplain Trevor Murry officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 919 Willow Street in Vincennes.

The family asks that memorial contribution be made to them to help defray expenses incurred during his illness.

The staff of the Fredrick & Son McClure-Utt Funeral Homes Vincennes Chapel is honored to assist the Abel family during their time of loss.
