Mick graduated from Oakdale High School in Oakdale, NE and on September 25, 1952 he and Ruth Siems were married in Elgin, NE. In 1952 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served in Korea and Japan before his honorable discharge in 1956. Mick worked six years in Wichita, KS with Boeing Aircraft; sixteen years in Neligh, NE where he owned and operated Mick's TV and Appliance Sales and Service, also serving on the Neligh Volunteer Fire Department and American Legion; eleven years in Sheridan, WY as a meter engineer for Sheridan Johnson REA; and nine years near Silsbee, TX where he and Ruth owned and operated the 96 Motel. In December of 1999 they retired and spent the next ten years traveling in their motor home and enjoying their second home in Bella Vista, AR.
Mick loved his family and, above all, he loved Jesus. His Christian faith was the foundation of his character, his work, his relationships, and his love and pride for his family. Mick will be remembered by his family as a quick-witted, generous, supportive husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughter, Connie Hedley (Frank) of Laramie, WY; and sons, Kevin (Dede) of Greeley, CO, and Craig (Connie) of Longmont, CO; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mick was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, and three brothers, Wayne, Van and Maynard Rouse.
A family memorial service was held Monday, September 12th at Rocky Mountain Christian Church, Longmont, Colorado. Graveside services are pending for Antelope County, NE.
