Roy W. Aven, 88 years of Saginaw, passed away Sunday afternoon, May 9, 2021 at Covenant HealthCare, Cooper Campus in Saginaw, surrounded by his family. He was born April 18, 1933 in Saginaw, son of the late Fredrick and Helen (Bader) Aven. Roy was a graduate of Saginaw High School. After school he went on to bravely serve his country in the Korean War with the United States Army. On August 22, 1955, he married the love of his life the former Nancy Beecher. Together they raised three wonderful daughters on their family farm. She preceded him in death on March 15, 2013. Roy spent his life farming and providing for his family. He was also active in his community, by proudly serving on the Blumfield Township Fire Department for over 25 years and the Reese Blumfield Water Board. He was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church in Reese with being baptized in 1933 and confirmed in 1946.

Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and a good card game with family and friends. Family was everything to Roy and he was especially close to his grandchildren; he loved spending time with the whole family at the cottage.

Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Louann Felske, Carol Erickson and her husband Terry, and Sharon Bierlein and her husband Jeff; grandchildren, Erik Felske and his wife Melissa, Tyler Felske, Liza Erickson, Joseph Bierlein and his wife Lisa, and Jacob Bierlein and his wife Sarah; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Blake, Tilly, Roland, Hobie and Lorna. He is also survived by his two sisters, Arlene Frost and Donna (Eugene) Bremer. In addition to his parents and wife Nancy, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marie M. Haubenstricker, and brother, Fredrick Aven Jr.

Roy's family would like to thank the staff of Covenant Glen of Frankenmuth and the nurses and staff of Covenant 3 North for their loving and compassionate care.

Funeral Services for Roy will take place at 1 P.M. Friday, May 14, 2021 from the Christ Lutheran Church in Reese. Reverend Mark Gerisch will officiate with Committal Services to follow in the Blumfield Township Cemetery. Roy's family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10 A.M. until the time of the services. There will be no visitation hours at the funeral home.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Christ Lutheran Church in Reese.

In accordance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services ordinance, the limitations of number gathered, mask wearing, and social distancing will be observed.
