Born December 1, 1928 in Matthews, NC to the late John and Nona Hooks. He was an army veteran. Retired from Masterpiece Woodworking in 1999. He loved surf fishing and vegetable gardening.
Paul is survived by his wife of 52 years, Audrey Matthieu Hooks; his children, Paul D. Hooks and wife, Debra, Deborah Bobo, Thomas Hooks and wife, Donna, Cynthia Lee, Timothy Hooks, Teresa Hooks, Julie Edwards and her husband, Tim, and Nora Whitley and her husband, Mitchell; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grand children; sisters, Betty Karnes of IL; Patsy Lemmond of Matthews. He is preceded in death by siblings, Sadie Hornback, Edwin Hooks, Stanley Hooks, Steven Hooks; and granddaughter Jennifer Bobo.
A memorial service was held September 2, at Evangel Christian Center in Matthews.
Arrangements were handled by Family Mortuary in Charlotte.
