Our loving mother Jean passed away suddenly last week. Born and raised in Perth Amboy, "Jeanne" was the darling baby of the Sendelsky family. She excelled at school, and was a member of the Lyons Club marching band, who performed in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. She was dedicated to family and friends, and loved to share stories of hanging out at the Amboy Candy Kitchen or dinners at her Aunt Anna's house.

Jean's mother Ruth Gunkel Sendelsky died when Jean was only 4, and her father Leonard Sendelsky when she was 27, so Jeanne's lifelong dream was simply to be there for her children.

She fulfilled this dream completely and her love for family knew no bounds. As a mother she was a loving caregiver, animated teacher, and constant friend to her two daughters, Melissa and Tiffany. Jeanne was also a devoted sister to Joan and Len, and doting aunt to Lenny Drew, Guy Sean, Jill, Jeanne, and Joy. She also shared her warmth and caring nature with countless friends and acquaintances over the years. Her sweetness touched people's lives in ways we discover again in every newly shared reminiscence.

Jeanne's first job was at Ruth's Maternity, and after high school she worked as an executive secretary at Catalin Corporation and to the President of Hess Oil. She then became one of the original Bunny cocktail waitresses at the prestigious New York City Playboy Club in the early 1960s. At that time she was courted by both Ford Modeling Agency and New York DJ Scott Muni, who became her husband of 38 years (until his death in 2004). Together they ran the swingin' Rolling Stone nightclub in the mid to late '60s before starting their family.

The family split time between New York and Point Pleasant, which allowed Jean to spend family time in a close-knit neighborhood and on the beautiful beaches she had enjoyed growing up, as well as experience the cosmopolitan fashion, performances, arts, and evolving restaurants of the city. At home in both settings, Jean had a grace that put people at ease. She was charming, generous, and welcomed people in with her infectious smile and the sparkle of her blue eyes. The light she brought to the world will remain with us always.

Jean is predeceased by her husband Scott and cherished brother Leonard Raymond Sendelsky, of Colonia, NJ. She is survived by her daughters, Melissa and Tiffany, beloved sister Joan and brother-in-law Jack Maher of Boca Raton, FL, sister-in-law Judith Sendelsky, nephews Leonard Drew and Guy Sean Sendelsky, and nieces Jill (Maher) Fresco, Jeanne (Maher) Rosholt, and Joy Maher.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 9 AM - 10 AM at O'Brien Funeral Home, Brick, followed by a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, Bay Head at 10:30 AM. The Committal Service will take place at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia at 12:30 PM. To send condolences please visit www.obrienfuneralhome.com.
