Hossein Fatemi, PhD, was a famous politician of Iran.

Born in 1919 in Nain in a religious family, he moved to Isfahan where he became involved in the publication of the newspaper Bâkhtar early on. This same paper was later moved to Tehran.

He was a caustic critic of the ruling Pahlavi Dynasty, and his views were candidly reflected in his newspaper editorials.

He served as Minister of Foreign Affairs in Mossadegh's cabinet, and became an ally of his.

Things however turned to his disadvantage after the fall of Mossadegh, and he was arrested in 1954, and was sentenced to death during what became known as Divan Balkh, accused of trying to overthrow the Shah. The following Mossadegh supporters were also sentenced with him as follows:

Dr. Shayegan: Life Sentence
Mohandes Razavi: Life Sentence
He was executed by firing squad on 19 Aban of 1954 in Tehran. Before his execution, in his will, he made Mossadegh as the guardian of his only son, "Cyrus".

There is an Avenue in Tehran named after Dr. Fatemi.
