Harry A Morton,55 of Cooperstown RD3 died tuesday, December 14 at Bassett Hospital following an extended illness. He was born on October 13, 1921 in Cooperstown the son of Howard and Verna (Yerdon) Morton. He married Sara Potacher on October 12,1968 at Mohawk. He had been a machine operater at Univac and Remington Arms, retiring two and a half years ago due to ill health. He was a member of the Toddsville Baptist Church. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the European Theatre where he was awarded four battle stars. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, Cooperstown. Surviving are his wife , three daughters, Mrs Norma Clements of Richfield Springs, Mrs Albert (Lorraine) Loomis of Yorkville, and Miss Sandra Jane Morton at home: two sons David S Morton and Howard A Morton both at home.one stepdaughter, Mrs Elmer (Dawn) Shute, Hartwick and a stepson Cecil W Rhoes of Albuquerque, N.M., one granddaughter, nine step grandchildren and several cousins.
