Funeral services for Eugene Rayford (Gene) Carter, 63, resident of Choctaw County, are set for 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Coffey Funeral Home chapel in Hugo. The Rev. Eddie Frazier will officiate and the body will be taken to Dallas, Tex. for graveside services and committal in Laurel Land Memorial Park Friday morning at 11:30.

His niece Sybil remembered him fondly. When her mother Clara was dying from lock jaw in 1933, he came everyday to comfort Clara and help in anyway he could. Sybil thought so much of Eugene that she named one of her son's after him.
