Le Mars, Iowa - Melvin N. Singer, 65, lifelong Le Mars resident, died Monday of long illness. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Catholic Church In Le Mars. The Rev. Francis Staber will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Le Mars. The parish rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today in the Luken-Johnson Funeral Home. Mr. Singer was born July 7, 1915, in Le Mars. He married Margaret Gotto June 3, 1947 at Remsen. He had operated the Singer Body and Glass Shop In Le Mars. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Survivors include the widow; Richard of Weatherford, Texas, Kenneth of Fort Smith, Ark., and Dan, Gary, Randy and Curtis, all of Le Mars; three brothers, Herb of Monroeville, Calif. and Merlin and Elmer, both of Le Mars; two sisters, Mrs. Cleo (Viola) Hoffman and Mrs. Don (Florence) Deideker, both of Le Mars; and five grandchildren.
