Wayne Ernest Dickey, 93, died May 23, 2021, at his home in Norman, Oklahoma. He was born on October 31, 1927, in Claypool, Oklahoma, to Ernest Preston Dickey and Naoma Lucille Grace Dickey. Wayne was known to many as simply "Dickey," but to his grandkids and great grandkids he was PaPaw, Grandad and Daddy D.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Patricia Ann Dickey; one sister, Margaret Headrick of Comanche, Oklahoma; son, Steven Dickey and his wife Joanna of Richmond, Kentucky; daughter, Lea Ann Driskill and her husband Joe of Tullahoma, Tennessee; daughter, Myra Kawaguchi and her husband Shozo of Amherst, Ohio; and step son, Randal Hodges and his wife Gena of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. His life was blessed with eleven grandchildren; Lara Davis, Adam Driskill, Sarah Dickey, Noah Kawaguchi, Alexis Humble, Jordan Casteel, Jamie Hodges, Mollea Cramton, Austin Hodges, Tessa Hodges and Taylor Hodges; and eight great
grandchildren, Lydia Davis, Nettie Davis, Jade Driskill, Brianna Diehl, Kaitlynn Day, Bretil Casteel, Eastyn Casteel and Wiley Humble.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Doyle Dickey, three sisters, Laveile Duncan, Savelle Overstreet, Charlsie Stroud; and one step son, Rick Hodges.

Wayne grew up on a cattle ranch near Claypool, Oklahoma. He was active in basketball and baseball at Claypool schools. Along with his siblings, he helped maintain life on their farm which remained in his family until a few years ago. He attended Oklahoma State University and studied agriculture. He was a loyal OSU fan through and through. Most times you could see him sporting OSU attire while drinking from an OSU cup. From his first marriage, Wayne became the proud father of his three children, Steve, Ann and Myra. While living in Claypool in 1953, he joined Dowell as an Equipment Operator. He continued his work with Dowell for 27 years and it took him from Healdton to Duncan to Woodward to finally Ardmore, where he met his wife, Pat. Wayne and Pat married in 1986, the same year he retired from Dowell as the Regional Sales Supervisor. They lived in Tulsa for 27 years, and for the last eight, made Norman, Oklahoma, their home. Over 35 years of marriage they shared many adventures, a lot of laughter and made enough memories with their family and friends to fill a lifetime.

An active member of the Elks Club, Wayne enjoyed golfing and quail hunting. He loved to travel, host dinner parties and visit with his family. He was a grill master, a bit of a jokester and had the best laugh. Wayne loved to get away to the farm in Claypool to work with the animals and on the land, including building fences with the help of his step son, Randal.

All of us, his family and friends, will miss him dearly and, although he is gone, we will carry his love and laughter with us always.

The family would like to thank the many doctors that cared for Wayne and specifically the health nurses and aides of LifeSpring Home Health.
