Doris M. Shepard, 80, of Parkersburg passed away Friday, March 24, 2006, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
She was born in Wood County on Aug. 21, 1925, a daughter of the late Hobart H. and Laura M. Buckner Hill.
Doris retired from Valley News in Parkersburg and was a member of the South Parkersburg Baptist Church in Parkersburg for more than 50 years, where she helped in the nursery.
She is survived by one daughter, Rhonda L. Barker and her husband, Roger, of Davisville; three sons, Michael D. Shepard and his wife, Darlene, David M. Shepard, and James B. Shepard, all of Parkersburg; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale I. Shepard; one brother, Harold Hill; one sister, Garnett Brown; and a great-granddaughter, Taylor Barker.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the South Parkersburg Baptist Church, with the Rev. Joe Busch officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen South Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Green Street, Parkersburg, and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
