David Wallace Mayer went home to be with his heavenly Father on May 5, 2021.

Dave was born in Missoula, Montana, on June 7, 1944 to Wallace and Doris Mayer. He spent his early childhood in Ronan, Montana. The family moved to Kennewick, Washington in 1951 where he eventually graduated from Kennewick High School in 1962.

Dave joined the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1965 for two years, then served active duty from 1967 to 1969. He served on two aircraft carriers, the USS INTREPID off the Vietnam coast and the USS FORRESTAL in the Mediterranean.

After his discharge from the Navy, he pursued his higher education, receiving an AA degree from Foothill College, Mountain View, California. He continued his education at Humboldt State University, Arcata, California where he was awarded a BS Degree in Forestry in 1974.

For the next 27 years he was a timber appraiser for the State of California's Board of Equalization. Upon retirement in 2002 he and his wife moved to Medford, Oregon.

Dave's hobby was serving the Lord. While at Arcata First Baptist Church, he oversaw the House and Grounds Ministry as well as heading up the church's building project, Faith Adventure. When he relocated to Medford, he continued serving the Lord as a volunteer helping take care of the First Baptist Church, Medford campus and the grounds.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathleen; his three daughters Terri (Jason) Fjetland, Lori (Chad) Fry, and Jeannie (Jed) Hassler; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; his sister, Jan (Hap) Richmond, and his nieces and nephews.
