Richard Thomas Gash, Jr., 64, died Friday, August 22, 1997 at the Hospice Care Center in St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. Born in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Richard Thomas Gash, Sr., and Onita Gritton Gash. He was a U. S. Army veteran , serving during the Korean War, and retired in 1988 after 30 years as the owner and operator of Gash Standard Oil in Lawrenceburg. He was an antique collector and associated with The Antique Mall in Harrodsburg. He was a member of the Sand Spring Baptist Church and the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors. Survivors include: his wife of 40 years, Betty Ann Reed Gash, Lawrenceburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Shaun Winter, Brentwood, TN; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ed and Kim Gash, Springboro, OH and Ron Gash, Louisville; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia (Bobby) Flora, Versailles, Pauline (R. A.) Hanks, Danville, Judy (Rev. James) Harley, Harrodsburg, Velena (Roy) Harley, Lawrenceburg, Brenda (Jimmie) Peach, Lawrenceburg, Dorothy (Johnny) Simpson, Harrodsburg; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lewis F. (Barbara) Gash and William F. (Shirley) Gash, all of Harrodsburg; five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Reed Gash. Funeral services were held Monday, August 25, at the Ritchie-Peach-Todd Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg with Dr. Mike Hamrick and Dr. Mark Caldwell officiating. Burial was in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
