Businessman. He was Vice-president and manager of the St. Louis Stamping Company until it merged with the National Enameling and Stamping Company. He was the vice-president and director of this firm as well as vice-president of the Commonwealth Steel Company and the secretary of the Granite Realty and Investment Company. A Republican, he was a Missouri delegate to Republican National Convention in 1916. The son of a German emigrate, he was nominated as a candidate for United States senator, but lost the election.
