Diane Lynn Allen (Gokey) passed away peacefully at the Solvay Hospice House on Friday, May 28th, 2021 after a valiant fight with ALS.

She was born September 22, 1953 to Gregory and Betty (Patrick) Gokey in Hayward, Wisconsin.

Diane married her high school sweetheart Douglas Allen on August 30. 1975 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Superior, WI. Together the couple had two beautiful daughters Vanessa and Dena (Lind). She was also a loving grandmother to her granddaughter Adalyn Lind.

Diane was a 1971 graduate of Superior High School and then she attended WITC. She enjoyed a long career in Civil Service. She worked eight years for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Diane retired after 32 years from the Federal Government Social Security Administration in 2013. She spent her time golfing, walking the lakewalk with her friends, camping, making baskets, and spending time with her granddaughter. She also loved going on cruises with her husband and family. It was Diane's sense of adventure, love of life, and incredible spirit that will be remembered and treasured by all who knew her and loved her.

Diane was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school there for many years. She was also a member of the Moose Local 606. Diane also participated in the National Indian Education Association while her daughters were attending school.

She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years Douglas; her daughter, Dena (Lind); son-in-law, Shawn Lind; and granddaughter, Adalyn Lind of Wright, MN; brothers, Gregory Gokey, Dennis (Cindy) Gokey, Dean Gokey, Jeff (Debbie) Gokey; sisters, Dawn (Dave) Rask, Lois (Steve) Vnuk, Tina (Tom) Anderson; brothers-in-law, Ron (Jeri) Allen and Jim (Julie) Allen; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Peterson of Minneapolis MN; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Diane is preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Vanessa; her parents; two brothers; Charles and Daniel Gokey; father and mother-in-law Charlie and Alice Allen; and brother-in-law, Stephen Peterson.

There will be a visitation in her honor at Downs Funeral Home in Superior, WI on Wednesday, June 2nd from 5:00-7:00p.m. There will also be a visitation from 10 until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service, Thursday, June 3rd at Bethel Lutheran Church, Superior, with Pastor Bridget Jones officiating.

Diane will be buried at the Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.
