She was born May 24, 1918 in New Rockford, ND to William and Lulu (Thompson)O'Connor. After graduating from high school she attended Dakota Business College in Fargo and upon completion she worked for NDSU as the Secretary to the Dean of the Home Economics Department. While working at the University, she met her husband Milton Vickers.
They were married August 5, 1942 and enjoyed 63 years together. They first lived in Dayton, Ohio where Gerry was a secretary for the war effort. While living in Dayton their first child, Linda Lou, was born. Shortly after returning to Fargo in 1945 she became a mother to a second child, Milton Bruce. After living in Fargo for 5 years they moved to Detroit Lakes, MN where their third child, JoAnn was born.
Geraldine worked for Dr. Rioux of Minot, ND for many years before returning to Fargo where she worked at the Neuropsychiatric Institute. But the job she enjoyed the most was working for the Clay County Juvenile System, which she retired from. Still to this day she wanted to work and be around people.
She especially enjoyed having people stop by to visit and truly enjoyed having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren around her. She loved them all.
Gerry is survived by her son Milton of Detroit Lakes; daughter JoAnn (Larry) Score of Colfax, ND; 7 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Phyllis Acker of Sacramento, CA; and sister-in law Georgia O'Connor of Wayzata, MN.
Preceding her in death are her husband Milton (2005); daughter Linda Lou Peterson of VA (2004) and Linda's husband Bill Peterson (1990); her brother Bill O'Connor of Wayzata, MN; and her parents William and Lulu O'Connor.
