In Broadfoot's 'Confederate Military History Vol. XIV' he states:
'Colonel Dunlop reported the gallant conduct of Lieut. M. A. Duckworth, killed, Capt. W. J. Wallace, wounded, and Sergeant Ford, who carried the colors after the color sergeant fell. The Ninth lost 17 killed and 115 wounded.'
