Major League Baseball Player. He was a right-handed pitcher for the Kansas City Cowboys (1886), St. Louis Browns (1887-1889), Chicago Pirates (1890), Pittsburgh Pirates (1891), New York Giants (1892-1892), Cincinnati Reds (1893) & Washington Senators (1896-1897). His nickname came from the German translation of his name Koenig and a thatch of hair that resembled burnished silver. King is credited with being the first to use a sidearm delivery, and pitched using just one motion, with no windup.
