Carl, 3.Fürst zu Leiningen, was married at Amorbach on February 13, 1829 to Gräfin Marie von Klebelsberg, with whom he had issue.

He was the maternal half-brother of Queen Victoria. Leiningen served as a Bavarian lieutenant general, before he briefly played an important role in German politics as the first Prime Minister of the Provisorische Zentralgewalt government formed by the Frankfurt Parliament in 1848.

Gravesite Details

He was originally interred at the Abteikirche, Amorbach, but was removed and reinterred at Schloss Waldleiningen, in Mudau, in 1866.
