Margaret Bell Galbreath, age 103, of Columbus, passed away on June 4, 2021 after suffering a stroke. Margaret was born on June 9, 1917, in Lindsay, Oklahoma. She married Gerald "Jerry" Galbreath Jr, on June 22, 1940, in Lindsay, Oklahoma. He died on October 30, 1981, in Columbus, from Cancer. Margaret graduated from Lindsay High School on May 23, 1935. She attended Oklahoma College for Women at Chickasha and later Oklahoma University in Norman, Oklahoma. She was a member of Pi Betta Phi sorority and was the Secretary-Treasurer of the Polo & Riding Association. She graduated in June 1940 with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration. She is survived by her 4 children, Jerry Galbreath, Michael Galbreath (Susan), Susan Pryor and Myra Rooney (Donald); 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Her Catholic faith was a foundation of her life. She attended St. Agatha Church for over 30 years. After her move to First Community Village in 2011, she attended Our Lady of Victory Church. She witnessed the advent of the automobile, radio, electricity, WWII, the Great Depression, air travel, the moon landing, computers, and the Covid pandemic. Margaret and Jerry lived in Texas, Wisconsin, Utah, Nevada, Alabama, Minnesota before settling in Columbus in 1959. Her interests were diverse. She was a golfer and tennis player. She loved flowers and her English gardens; her Daylily "Margaret Galbreath" is registered with American Daylily Society. In her later years, she played competitive Bridge at the Columbus Bridge Club where she achieved a "Life Master". In her circle of friends, her love of cooking and entertaining were well known. She deeply appreciated her friends at First Community Village; their friendship, support and caring meant much to her. Most of all, she loved her family. Family will receive friends from 1-4pm on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Monday, June 14, 2021 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 1559 Roxbury Road, Columbus, Ohio 43212. She will be buried alongside her late husband at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Margaret's memory to First Community Foundation. In addition, Margaret's family would like to thank the staff at Riverside Hospital and Ohio Health Kobacker House for their excellent care during her final days.
