Bobbie Roland Tipton, 96, passed away at his home in Clinton on June 7, 2021. He was born Oct. 4, 1924, in East St. Louis, Ill, the son of Rev. W. W. and Ethel Tipton.

He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church, Clinton, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher for both adults and third graders, and was a faithful member of both the Sanctuary Choir and the senior adult choir, the Heavenly Sunlight Singers. He was the last surviving member of the Utility Four quartet who traveled throughout Mississippi sharing Christian music.

Bob was proud of his three-year service in the United States Navy during World War II serving on the LSMR-530 with a rating of Fire Controlman 2C. After discharge he moved to Mississippi where his father was the pastor at Fernwood Baptist Church.

He retired from Bell South Telephone Company (subsequently AT&T) after 37 years working his way up to Manager, Outside Plant Engineering at his retirement.

Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Ernestine Wigley Tipton; brother, Charles L. Tipton, Fairview Heights, IL; daughters Shirley Tipton of Clinton, MS and Nancy Tipton Hutchinson (John), Pensacola, FL; grandsons, Johnny Hutchinson (Lindsay), Houston, TX and Grant Hutchinson (Kathleen), Pensacola, FL; great grandsons Charlie Hutchinson and Jackson Hart; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family graveside service and internment will be held at Lakewood Cemetery, Jackson, MS. No public visitation will be held.
