William was born 19 October 1898 in Montclair, Essex, NJ to William Thomas Mills Sr. and Edna Maude Hurst. The 1900 Census tells us William was 1 year old and resided with his parents and brother Robert and sister Harriet in Mountain Ave., Montclair Ward 1 Essex NJ.
In 1905 they lived on Grafton Ave., in Newark, NJ and William had another brother Albert. By 1910 William was still with his family in Montclair and he was 10 years old. By 1915 William was 17 and residing at the The New Jersey Training School for Feeble-Minded Children in Landis Twp, Cumberland, NJ. His US WW1 Draft Registration Card,1917-1918 dated September 12, 1918 states he was white and native born, with height short, built slender and blue eyes. Feeble-Minded. The US WW11 draft cards young men 1940-1947 registration date 14 February 1942 states he was 5'2", light complexion, brown hair and blue eyes. William died 4 December 1975 at the age of 77 in Vineland, Cumberland, NJ. and is buried in Row 1. This cemetery was originally named "Our Greenwood"
