Sheila Rummel Holmes, 66, of Vandergrift, died Saturday Jan. 22, 2011, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Aug. 10, 1944, in New Kensington, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Gladys Kepple Rummel. Sheila had been employed by the Small World Day Care in Vandergrift as a daycare supervisor, where she had retired in 2010 after 15 years of employment. She had also worked for Dr. H. Nelson Carnahan as a dental assistant. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Vandergrift, where she had taught Sunday School. She also enjoyed line dancing, reading, listening to country music and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Robert C. Holmes, of Vandergrift; daughter, Diane Holmes Lizik, of East Vandergrift; and a son, Robert J. Holmes, of Vandergrift; and four grandchildren, Madison and Matthew Lizik and Emma and Cassidy Holmes. She is also survived by an aunt, Rosanna Kepple, of Vandergrift. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the DUNMIRE-KERR FUNERAL HOME INC., 244 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Neal Galley officiating. Interment will be in the Vandergrift Cemetery.
