Donald Patrick Maronay, a resident of Boring, died Thursday, Jan. 27, in Portland. He was 83.
A viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 18090 S.E. Langensand Road.
Donald was born May 29, 1927, in Tillamook to John and Vivian (Illingworth) Maronay. He graduated from St. Helens High School in 1945 and attended Oregon State University.
On Oct. 2, 1948, he married Vivian Flisram in Tillamook.
Donald was an Oregon State Police officer. He then worked as a longshoreman for the Pacific Maritime Association for more than 40 years. He was an active union member of the Old Timers Association.
Donald resided in Boring since 1968. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. He enjoyed collecting coins. His family meant to the world to him.
His wife preceded him in death in 2010.
Survivors include his sons, Joey Maronay of Boring and Pat Maronay of Gresham; daughters, Candy Pyatt of West Linn, Kathi Marth of Portland, Donni Maronay of Portland and Susie Grassl of Sandy; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Memorial donations can be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church, 18090 S.E. Langensand Road, Sandy, 97055.
