He was born October 6, 1941, in Olmsted, Illinois to the late Russell and Grace Bise. He was also preceded in death by his older sisters Elizabeth Ahlgren and Mary Katherine Bise-Simon and his two older brothers Harold Bise and Lloyd Dale Bise.
He joined the US Air Force and served 4 years before being honorably discharged in 1964.
Rodney was a devoted husband, loving father, and Papaw. The family was always at the top of his priority list. He made time for numerous family activities including camping, traveling, church activities, coaching both kids' ball teams, and of course, hunting and fishing. He loved going to deer camp and was a member of the Boyer Ridge Hunting Club for over 25 years. He was an avid sports fan, loved the Razorbacks, and supported the local high school and college sports teams. He enjoyed being outside and he always had a project that he was working on. He especially loved restoring his 53 Chevy Truck and building special projects in his shop. He was extremely talented in woodworking and crafted many personalized items that he gave as gifts to those he loved. Rodney loved serving and helping others. He loved God, his family, and his country. He was a 45 year resident of Heber Springs and was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church. He was a member and substitute teacher of the Pairs and Spares Sunday School class and was always busy doing different activities with them. He valued and treasured the close-knit group of very special church friends and their many trips and activities. Rodney volunteered and served on many church and community organizations including the Optimist Club, Board of Trustees, In His Steps program, Pastor Parish Committee, little league, and sports programs, and was a proud member of the Chain-Gang for over 27 years. He was instrumental in helping to establish the Breaking Bread ministry. Rodney took pride in using his many God-given talents to serve the Lord and to help those less fortunate.
Rodney married the love of his life, Jerry Lee Perkins Bise, on September 4, 1965. In August 1976, Rodney built a home for his family and moved them to Heber Springs. He worked in the auto body business for several years and he was also a Rural Letter Carrier for the US Postal Service. He retired in 2002. He also worked in the construction business and especially enjoyed making cabinets.
Rodney is survived by his devoted wife of 55 plus years, Jerry; 2 children, Beth Cox(Boo) of DeWitt, AR; and Jeff Bise(Brooke) of Damascus, Arkansas. 5 Grandchildren, Connor Bise and Carson Bise; Dalton Cox, Stacey Cox Bailey, and Dillon Cox; and 3 great-grandchildren; along with many special nieces, nephews, relatives, and many special lifelong friends.
Visitation will be 1-2 pm, Monday, June 7th at First United Methodist Church in Heber Springs. The funeral Service will follow at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens in Heber Springs.
