[JOHN 7 CLEAVELAND (PEREZ 6 CLEVELAND , ELEAZER 5 CLEAVELAND , SAMUEL 4 CLEVELAND , SAMUEL 3, MOSES 2, ISAAC 1) was born October 17, 1789 in Boston, Massachusetts, and died December 05, 1846 in Sharon, Connecticut. He married MARY INGRAHAM October 01, 1817 in Sharon, Connecticut, daughter of NATHANIEL INGRAHAM and BETSEY DAVIS.
a soldier in the war of 1812, he was drafted at New London, Connecticut, for 6 months in a Connecticut regiment, and worked in the entrenchments in the old sod fort at New London. John's service was from July 21 to Sept. 16, 1813, under Capt. George Middleton, Lt.Col. Timothy Shepard. He afterwards located at North East, Dutchess, New York and toward the close of the war enlisted from North East as a substitute in Capt. Eben Wheeler's company in New York regiment, which started for Harlem Heights, New York, but the war was over before or shortly after they reached there. He removed about 1812 from Canterbury, Connecticut to Sharon. Before 1851 his widow received the first government bounty land warrant, 40 acres. After 1851 the children received a land warrant 120 acres.
